Only a few days and we'll be competing..

Joining the Pi War 2024 was a last minute decision .. a good one :-) it's already a lot of fun and the team is growing.. many ideas on what do to despite being a reserve. We hope to play with the others teams tho :-)

Just a a few days and we'll be @ Piwars 2024.. still some work to do.. even after the competition! we always wanted to play with robotics :) hehe

Progressing.

14-10-2023 our first post!
We are trying to update the blog weekly to show how things are progressing.. now we are much closer.. a few days only..

We made a draft for a platform that will be used for testing the mechanics.. that's the first step.

We all need to warm up coding, making, soldering, etc.. that's a good start.

Some ingredients

Let's see what we already have ..

Let's chose a platform

We haven't decided yet what will be the robot like.. but it will be probably a rover.
We might use NiMH or LiFePO4 batteries just for safety. We like small robot.. how small.. not sure.

It was harder than I thought to agree on the robot and team name first.. that's why it took some time to start a blog too.

First parts arrived.. BMS for lithium batteries.. 7.2V .. bluetooth PAD.. in the end most of the challenges are remote.. let's do that first.. it's perfect for testing different mech solutions too.

In the end we are using lithium Ion and Lead battery.. when you need more weight.. :) Pi noon..

QT is made of Plexiglas, wood and 3D printed parts and it's based on RPI4. It's a low profile robot (3 layers of electronics in a body 50mm thick). It has just 2 driving wheels (encoded DC motors). Without extensions it weights 600g (700g with Lithium or 1200g with SLA lead batteries).

Planning

The is the main big step for the next two weeks probably.
It's just a spreadsheet but it might evolve into something with ticketing.. just for fun.

No much time left, we are developing the autonomous parts using python, openCV and a camera..

Sharing

We want to share tips and ideas too. I'm sure there will be many alternative implementations from our brainstorming..
The last videos are showing some ideas: like looking through a sphere with a camera to have a 30 degrees view or base the shooter on hot glue (by heating the glue we release a spring loaded mechanism that shoots the ball to the target).

Did you know that there are free website to test your pad or joystick?

Check the buttons ! They might be detected in different position than you think they are!
